QBO Charging for 1099 and W-2 Forms

QuickBooks Online (QBO) has made an important change that could impact your payroll and year-end tax filing costs. Here’s what you need to know.

What’s Changing?

Starting January 2025, QBO will charge $4 for each 1099 and W-2 form that they print and mail to recipients.

Who does this affect?

This change affects all QBO users who currently allow automatic payroll tax filings and payments via QBO.

What can I do to avoid this charge?

To avoid the $4 fee per form, update your QBO Payroll settings before January 3, 2025, to opt out of printed and mailed forms. If you opt out, you will need to download, print, and distribute the forms manually. If no changes are made, QBO will automatically print and mail the forms and apply the fee.

Please note: Our firm will not be printing or mailing these forms on your behalf.

What if my QBO subscription is billed through Kelsey Glass CPA?

For clients whose QBO subscriptions are billed through our firm, these charges will be passed along to you. They will appear as additional charges on your February 2025 invoice if applicable.

If you have questions or need assistance updating your settings, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
